Non-Polio Enterovirus D-68 (EV-D68) in Colorado
Colorado is experiencing a rash of Non-Polio Enterovirus D-68 respiratory infections which I and many other parents are very concerned about this year. This illness is spread when an infected person sneezes, coughs, or touches a surface which is then touched by another person. Colorado has had many children in the hospital which is why I am writing this article at this time. The CDC has the newest information at the following site which you can check on a frequent basis to see the latest methods on how to protect your families here in Colorado and the rest of the nation. Here is a link to the site: http://www.cdc.gov/non-polio-enterovirus/outbreaks/EV-D68-outbreaks.html .
Here is a map of the areas in the U.S.A. where the outbreak has been reported:

What cleaning companies can do to minimize transmission:
According to the CDC: Cleaning companies should use a hospital-grade disinfectant with an EPA label claim for several non-enveloped viruses (e.g. Norovirus, Poliovirus, Adenovirus, and Rhinovirus).
Two cleaning agents which All Phase Cleaning Services and All Phase Carpet and Upholstery use which are known to be effective against non-enveloped viruses such as Enterovirus D68 are Microban Germicidal Cleaner Concentrate and Microban BotaniClean.
